Ohio State, Penn State and LSU are still the three best teams in week 4 of AP 25 …
Ohio State, Penn State and LSU are still the three best teams in week 4 of the AP Top 25. Miami survey went up to number 4 after crushing USF and Georgia to number 5, despite needing overtime to overcome Tennessee.
Texas A&M made a great leap to the Top 10 after his dramatic victory in Notre Dame, while the Irish became the first team since 1988 to remain among the top 25 with a record of 0-2.
Oregon slipped two places to number 6 despite a 20 -point victory against Northwestern and was followed by Florida State, Texas, Illinois and the Aggies.
Here is the last:
Georgia Tech is divided into the top 25
Georgia Tech’s 24-21 disturbing victory on Clemson did the trick: the Yellowjackets have officially broken in the top 25 after weeks of knocking on the door.
Georgia Tech made a strong performance against Clemsson on Saturday, establishing the tone from beginning to end. The Tigers tied 21 each with 3:26 on the clock.
Field Marshal Haynes King led a game of 10 plays and 38 yards, establishing the Aidan Birr kick for a 55 -yard game.
Ohio State, Penn State, LSU retain the three main points
No. 1 Ohio State, No. 2 Penn State and No. 3 LSU they feel comfortably in one, two and three for another week.
The slow beginning of Ohio’s state against Ohio did not shook the voters, since the Buckeyes built steam in the second half to win 37-9. Penn State defeated the enemy in the Villanova 52-6 state, and LSU surpassed the opponent of the DEC Florida 20-10.

Are we ready to start showing Miami some respect?
By Brett McMurphy
Who are we?
I had Miami No. 9 in my preseason vote. I have UM No. 4 this week. I have been at the top of the canes for the last two years. I was in Notre Dame’s victory and wrote about Mario Cristobal’s commitment to restore his Alma Mater to the days of glory.
What teams are contenders to win everything?
By Brett McMurphy
I will give you two statistics that can help you determine the champion.
The AP No. 1 pre -season team has failed to win the national title in 19 of the last 21 years. Then eliminate Texas.
In addition, in 17 of the last 19 years, the national champion was classified in the top 7 of the preseason survey. That is a good omen for Penn State, Ohio State, Georgia and Oregon. Clemsson and Notre Dame were also among the first seven, but they don’t look so good at this time.
What metric do you use to compare the victories of Reventón and the tight matches?
By Brett McMurphy
I try to look at the «score inside the box», if you wish.
I just don’t look at the final scores, because they can be very misleading. An example, Illinois beat Duke 45-19 last week. Blocked, right? Not precisely. Duke really beat Illinois, but lost five ball losses.
So, for that game, I will give Illinois credit for victory, but it was not a margin of 26 points. I was closer to a shake.
I will also try to compare common opponents. Everyone does it differently, but it only considers, it is a beauty contest. It is just someone’s opinion.
They could be right. Or bad.
How down will Clemson fall and how far Georgia Tech will reach?
By Brett McMurphy
If you are a fan of Tom Petty, you know the song: Free Falling.
I don’t know how far Clemson will fall, but I think it will be significant. Yes, they have a couple of nearby losses, but Clemson barely survived at home against Troy.
And Georgia Tech absolutely needs to be classified among the 20 best teams.
Usf’s hot streak ends in Miami
The first two games in South Florida could not have gone better, overthrow the preseason No. 25 Boise State in week 1 and deliver 18-16 discomfort about Florida the following week.
The Bulls streak ended on Saturday, when they lost 49-12 against Miami. The immediate future of southern Florida in Top 25 seems gloomy, while Miami looked like a Top 5 team.
The Florida Tour of the Hurricanes continues during the next two weeks, since they receive the Gators on Saturday night and travel to Florida State on October 4.
Listen from a voter: Is Miami’s victory more impressive than Georgia’s?
By Brett McMurphy
I valued Georgia’s victory in Tennessee Better than Miami’s victory against Notre Dame.
Tennessee may or may not be better than notre Dame (we will discover it eventually), but winning in that atmosphere for Georgia was more impressive to me.
Listen to a voter: the biggest surprises and disappointments so far?
By Brett McMurphy
The biggest surprise: Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt.
QB Diego Pavia spoke a lot … before the season, but the commoders are supporting him. The state of Florida has also been impressive. That Alabama victory will look better and better as the season continues. I can’t wait for Miami-fsu in three weeks.
Greater disappointment: Clemson was a modern selection of the national title of many people (not me), and now the tigers will have to somehow win the ACC to enter the playoff.
Can you say pop-tarts bowl?
Listen to a voter: What teams did you move this week?
By Brett McMurphy
Among the changes in my AP ballot this week, in addition to classifying Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech, they were dropping slightly to Penn State and Texas.
Penn State has possibly played the weakest opening calendar. The Nittany Lions have won comfortably, but the victories of the state of Ohio, Georgia and LSU have impressed me more. Texas has seemed average the last two weeks, so, for now, the Lonchorns barely hang on my top 10.
Clemsson, South Carolina, Notre Dame Stumble
Clemsson, South Carolina and Notre Dame suffered captures on Saturday, putting each at risk of losing the state of the best.
A Georgia Technology team without classification surpassed No. 12 Clemson and solidified the annoying victory with a 55 -yard field goal that exceeds the bell.
Georgia Tech probably influenced voters with their convincing performance and the loss of tigers will surely also affect the votes.
Meanwhile, the first game of Casa de Notre Dame was not as planned. The Irish were committed to a two -point attempt and fell short. Texas A&M responded with a load in the field in the last minutes of the game, scoring the advantage touchdown to win 41-40.
South Carolina did not approach Vanderbilt. The Gamecocks surpassed in all aspects, especially after losing the Lanorris Sellers field in the second quarter with a brain shock. The loss of 31-7 puts South Carolina in serious danger of falling from Top 25.
Heisman’s career takes a turn
Most Heisman’s preseason conversations focused on three quarterbacks: Arch Manning (Texas), Garrett Nussmeier (LSU) and Cade Klubnik (Clemson).
Three weeks after the season, those conversations sound quite different.
Pre -season No. 4 Clemson has a serious risk of tripping among the top 25 after losing to Georgia Tech on Saturday. The preseason No. 1 Texas was disappointed in a 27-10 victory over UTEP with an inconsistent passes game, while Nussmeier remains a favorite after taking LSU to a start 3-0.
But John Mateer (Oklahoma) and Carson Beck (Miami) have replaced Klubnik and Manning at the upper level.
Who votes in the survey and how does it work?
No organization has been classifying teams and appointing an important national university football champion more time than Associated Press, since 1936.
AP employees do not vote for themselves, but choose voters. The 25 best AP voters comprise around 60 writers and broadcasters who cover university football for AP members and other selected points of sale. The objective is to have all states with a subdivision school of Football Bowl represented by at least one voter.
There is a system of 1-25 points, with a voted team No. 1 receiving 25 points to 1 point for a 25 vote after that, it is simple: the survey lists the equipment with the largest number of points from 1 to 25, and others that receive votes are also observed.
The vote is performed online and the tabulation is automated.
