Officials Warn That Beachgoers Could Risk ‘Arrest’ If They Break Curfew Following Tragic Incident

A New Jersey city is making a new policy on its beaches after a deadly incident last week.

On August 11, the HEIGHTS Fire Department was alerted to a report by multiple swimmers in webster Avenue Beach in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, according to Fox News. The city’s fire department and additional agencies responded to a report from six individuals to 100 yards on the coast trapped in a strenglera.

The victims were rescued in three waves: three in the first, two in the second and the final victim by itself. Rescue teams immediately made RCP when recovering the final swimmer, but the 31 -year -old was declared dead in a local hospital.

According to the National Meteorological Service (NWS), the brim currents are powerful water currents that move away from the coast. They can even sweep the strongest swimmers. Deaths often occur when swimmers are taken out on the high seas and cannot be kept afloat.

After the event, the mayor of Seaside Heights, Anthony Vaz, said he wants to clear the ocean after the lifeguards leave for the day.

«I don’t care who gets angry with me, I’m closing the beach,» Vaz told Local Outlet News 12. «If it’s a danger, I hate this, demand me.»

The mayor told Fox News that there will also be a greater presence of the police.

«The rest of the season will be there, chasing the people of the water at five o’clock,» he said. «If (people) refuse to leave, (we will give you a summons). And if they become really arrogant, I hope not, they will be arrested.»

People has communicated with the mayor of Seaside Heights and the Police Department to comment.

On Friday, August 15, the local departure Asbury Park Press Captured members of the Police Department patrolling the beach after the lifeguards were gone. The officers used ATV to move around the beach, warning the viewers of the beach to stay out of water.

The departure also captured signs published at each entrance to the beach of Seaside Heights.

According to the NWS, this year there have been 52 deaths within surfing areas in the United States. Twenty -five of those deaths, or 48%, were the result of the RIP current.

Earlier this year, Malcolm-Jamal Warner died while swimming on a family trip in Costa Rica.

The actor «apparently was swept by a current. The man was rescued by the spectators and taken to the coast, where he received the treatment of the Costa Rica Red Cross. However, he was declared lifeless on the scene,» said the judicial investigation agency in a statement obtained by people.
