The Real Housewives of Potomac Star Wendy Osefo spoke for the first time about her arrest on October 9, along with her husband Eddie Osefo, on insurance fraud charges.
«And through it all, God remains faithful. Thank you for the outpouring of love, support and prayers for me and most importantly, my family during this time. We will be forever grateful,» the reality TV star said on her Instagram page late Sunday. The Osefos were released on October 10 after being charged with 16 counts of insurance fraud, including seven felonies.
Wendy Osefo also urged fans to tune in to Bravo to watch the latest episode of The Real Housewives of Potomac. «Tune into @bravotv tonight for a new episode of #RHOP,» she wrote.
Their arrest came after Los Osefos allegedly made false and misleading claims following an April 2024 burglary at their family home that led to criminal charges for insurance fraud. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office in Maryland, in an Oct. 10 Facebook post, stated that the Osefos, after returning from vacation and discovering their home had been burglarized, reported that about 80 luxury items, including jewelry, goods, clothing and shoes, valued at $200,000, had been stolen.
«During the investigation, detectives discovered that more than $20,000 of items reported stolen had been returned by the owners to the locations where the items were purchased. Additionally, detectives found images of an owner wearing jewelry that had been reported stolen after the theft took place,» the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office alleged.
Wendy Osefo also faces a misdemeanor charge for allegedly making a false statement to a police officer. On October 10, Osefos representatives in a statement confirmed that the couple had been released on bail.
«They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans and colleagues. The Osefos, along with their legal team, look forward to their day in court. At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead,» the statement from the couple’s representatives added at the time.
season 10 The Real Housewives of Potomac It began airing on October 5. Osefo will star in the Bravo film Wife Swapping: The Real Housewives Edition But after news of the couple’s arrest broke, the network pushed back the show’s premiere date from October 14 to October 21.
Osefo became a cast member of Real Housewives of Potomac in 2020. And she’s just the latest figure from the long-running reality TV franchise to face legal trouble, with New Jersey star teresa giudice, salt lake city cast member Jen Shah and Osefo RHOP Co-star Karen Huger spends time behind bars.
