The seven -year -old Super Bowl champion, was immortalized at Patriot Place Plaza on Saturday, August 9, when the New England Patriots organization and CEO and CEO Robert Kraft announced an imposing statue to his image before the game at the home of the team against Washington’s commanders. Kraft previously announced honor during the induction ceremony of the Fame Hall of Brady’s Patriots, before making it official on Saturday.
After Kraft, 84, talked about the former star marshal of his franchise, he and Brady stood up to see the presentation, while the flames shot behind the statue. Brady then examined the statue from behind, gave Kraft a hug and shared some comments with the fans who attended.
«At this time, I feel extremely honest, deeply grateful and, if I’m honest, a little old,» Brady joked during the presentation ceremony outside the stadium that was its territory from 2000 to 2019.
«I am also a little surprised because they generally do not build statues until you are really old … it is not every day you get a statue, at least not one like this,» he continued. «Seeing myself as a statue is not something that I could have imagined growing. When they recruited me, I just expected the team. I never dreamed that I would be here two and a half decades later, made of bronze and frozen in time. It actually feels quite appropriate, given my career time of 40 yards.»
Brady called at the moment an «incredible honor», joking that marked the «first time» in his life that Boston sports journalists would describe him as «chiseled.»

«In the end, this statue is not just for PATS fans,» he said later. «It will also give Jet fans something to throw beers, since they leave the stadium every year. Probably in the second quarter. Maybe the third.»
Brady then said that, ultimately, the statue was not only «a guy», but rather a «team and a commitment to be great together.»
He continued: «To think that a child from California could one day travel here to this square, stop, look at this work of art and say: ‘Who the hell is that guy?’ I said this before, but I want to say it again: I am humiliated and honest of having been part of this organization for 20 incredible years.
As for Kraft, the team owner described the statue as a way to «immortalize» a man who considered the «best NFL player of all time.»
«Tom was the Draft 199 team, who not only became the best field marshal that the League has seen, but also helped transform the Patriots into a 20 -year -old dynasty,» Kraft said. «He demanded the excellence of himself and made everyone around him were better. Tom was not just the face of our franchise, it was the real beat.»
Brady played for the Patriots for two decades after being selected in 199º in the NFL 2000 Draft. Among then and 2020, when he left New England for free agency and joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brady won six Super Bowl championships with the franchise. Later he brought his own Super Bowl in 2021, before his retirement in 2023.
According to the organization of the Patriots, the new incorporation to the Gillette stadium makes Brady the first player in the history of the franchise to win the honor of having a bronze statue in the location. According to ESPN, the statue was created by a local sculptor and its granite base was extracted in Vermont.
