Jonathan Jackson is opening on his last exit from General Hospital.

The 43 -year -old actor, who has played Lucky Spencer inside and outside since he participated for the first time in the role in 1993, will leave the iconic soap opera this week, less than a year after he meets in his winning diurnal role in Emmy in August 2024.

Jackson revealed to TV Insider that the reason for his departure is due to the round trip between California, where the program’s films and his home in Tennessee, where he and his family live.

«There was always that possibility because it was an experiment on my part to see if I could make it work with family dynamics,» he shares three children with his wife and his former General Hospital The co -star Lisa Vultaggio said.

Jackson said there were times when he thought he was achieving the correct balance, but that he finally did not work for him. «We gave him our best chance, but we couldn’t keep it going,» he admitted.

Jackson reflected on returning to General Hospital Over the years, saying that it is «always a bit nostalgic» to return.

The actor said he will always treasure his time in Port Charles, the fictional city where the soap opera is established, but that «it is always a bit overwhelming» to return.

«… There are not so many situations in life that you can go and enter this world, where much has changed and has remained the same,» he said, pointing out the «incredible connections» that he has with many of the crews and those who work in the program.

Jackson added: «And then, in addition to that, you have the character you are interpreting that he has this story, and you return to work with so many people.»

One of those people that Jackson gathered was Rebecca Herbst, who plays the love interest of Lucky Elizabeth Webber. He called to work with Herbst this time «a real culminating point.»

Jackson said returning between 2009 and 2011 was «a kind of full tragedy» for Lucky and Elizabeth, but this time was different.

«This time, there was a lot of goodness and a lot of sweetness in the middle of the drama, and it was fun to be part of that,» he said. «And the fan’s response was also really beautiful.»

Before the last General Hospital Departure, Elizabeth gently rejected a marriage proposal from Lucky. In the midst of anguish, he revealed that he left the city, saying that «it hurts too much» to be in Port Charles, but not being with Elizabeth.

Jackson compared his working relationship with Herbst with which he experienced with Hayden Panettiere in Nashville.

Jackson called Herbst «an incredibly intuitive and very intelligent actress» and «a joy» to work.

«There is a certain type of instinctive reality, not only when you have worked with people for so many years, but also when you have grown up in the same world,» he explained. «I experienced that with Hayden Panettiere in Nashville Because she grew up in the world of soap, the process of how we worked was very similar, and it is so with Becky. »

Panettiere is a telenovela veterinarian, who appeared in A LIFE TO LIVE and Guide light. He said: «There is definitely a shorthand there.»

Jackson called him «a real blessing» to work with someone like herbst who can match him and move «in that intuitive sphere.»
