President Donald Trump attacked 12 countries with a new prohibition of traveling, with seven more countries facing restricted trips.
The nationals of Afghanistan, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Myanmar, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen will be forbidden to enter the United States under the new order, which will enter into force on June 9.
The citizens of Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela will be partially restricted from traveling, eliminating access to all immigrant visas and several non -immigrant travel options.
Trump also issued a warning that Egypt could soon join the air exclusion list following the terrorist attack of Colorado in which an Egyptian citizen who exceeded his visa allegedly fires the Pro-Israel protesters.
«We don’t want them,» Trump said without surroundings in a video released shortly after the ban was announced.
«Very simply, we cannot have an open migration from any country where we cannot examine and detect in a safe and reliable way.»
The White House offered a variety of reasons why these countries were attacked: saying that these countries have a lax detection of travelers, they have a «significant terrorist presence», and their government was not cooperative enough to accept deported citizens or residents who were prone to overcome their visas in the United States.
In his first term, Trump tried to prohibit travelers from seven countries mostly of the Muslim majority.
Five of those countries are on the new list: Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
Exceptions will be made for permanent legal residents, the holders of existing visas, certain categories of visas and individuals whose entry is considered to serve the national interests of the United States.
The order is expected to draw legal challenges.
Only two of the 19 countries are on the list of state sponsors of the United States government: Iran, which has a complete prohibition, and Cuba, which has partial travel restrictions.

During his first term, Trump announced the prohibition of travelers from seven majority Muslim nations, a policy that went through several iterations before the Supreme Court confirmed it in 2018.

But Trump promoted the successes of his initial 2017 trip prohibitions in his proclamation.

‘It is the policy of the United States to protect their citizens from foreigners who intend to commit terrorist attacks, threaten our national security, defend the hateful ideology or exploit immigration laws for malevolent purposes.
‘The United States must be attentive during the visa process to ensure that those approved foreigners for admission in the United States do not intend to damage Americans or our national interests.
‘More importantly, the United States must identify such aliens before its admission or entry to the United States.
«The United States must ensure that aliens and foreigners admitted in another way are already present in the United States do not have hostile attitudes towards their citizens, culture, government, institutions or principles of foundation, and do not advocate, help or support foreign terrorists designated or other threats to our national security.»
Trump said the list is «subject to review» if the nations work to improve the research system of their nationals.
Similarly, other nations can be added to the list if Trump then believes that they represent a risk to national security.
But as it is, the nations included in the list have disappointed Trump in several ways, either by having a high rate of nationals that remain in excess of their visas or limiting the access of the United States to security data.
The main concern for Iranian citizens is that the government «is a state sponsor of terrorism.»
In that case, Trump argued that «they will regularly not cooperate with the United States government in the identification of security risks, it is the source of significant terrorism worldwide and historically has not been able to accept their removable nationals.»
Similarly, the inclusion of Somalia occurs after the United States government identified Somalia as a terrorist refuge.
«Terrorists use Somalia regions as safe paradises of which they plan, facilitate and perform their operations.»
Haitian citizens, Trump argued, are more likely to try to exaggerate their visas.
«In addition, hundreds of thousands of illegal Haitian foreigners flooded the United States during the Biden administration,» said the president.
«This influx harms US communities by creating acute risks of higher supervision rates, establishment of criminal networks and other national security threats.»
During the period prior to the elections, thousands of Haitian migrants who had moved to Springfield, Ohio, caused the anger of President Trump, who said that some of them were even eating pets.

Eritrea, for example, has been included in the list because «the United States questions the competence of the central authority for the issuance of passports or civil documents in Eritrea.»
Trump wrote: ‘The criminal records are not available to the United States for erythre citizens. Eritrea has historically refused to accept its removable nationals.
Trump added that «many of these countries have also taken advantage of the United States in their exploitation of our visa system and their historical inability to accept their removable nationals.»
Trump said the decision was made in collaboration with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Prosecutor General Pam Bondi, National Secretary of National Security Kristi Noem, director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and director of the Central Intelligence Agency John Ratcliffe.
For the seven nations that have had access to the United States severely restricted, Trump has clarified that the authorities will no longer accept any immigrant visa request.
In addition, a large number of non -immigrant visa options will be revoked, and those that remain will have «reduced validity … to the extent allowed by law.»
Looking towards the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, Trump has already added a clause in his proclamation that establishes: ‘Any athlete or member of an athletics team, including coaches, people who play a necessary support and immediate relatives, who travel for the World Cup, the Olympic Games or other important sporting event’ will be exempt.
