A train passenger in Germany faced a complicated rescue after his hand was trapped under a armrest while looking for his fallen apple airpods.

The Volunteer Fire Department, Lehrte, said in an incident report that firefighters responded to Lehrte train station in Lower Saxony on Friday, May 23, around 10:10 pm, local time.

«Upon his arrival, the situation was such that a man on a Westfalenbahn train traveling to Braunschweig had his hand trapped under a armrest, behind the seat, on the side panels, and could not free himself,» said the fire department in the report, which has been translated.

«This was activated by its AirPods, which had fallen and slid in a space in the side panels,» the department added.

People contacted the Lehrte Volunteer Fire Department to obtain additional information on Tuesday, May 27.

The agency said that what at first seemed to be a quite easy ransom proved to be a complex operation because the passenger’s hand was so swollen that simple equipment could not be used.

As a result, the emergency responders first dismantled the train luggage shelf and the seats and then removed the armrest with a saw.

«Then a combination extensor was used to open the side panels wide enough for the person to finally be released from their situation after approximately an hour and a half,» said the fire department report.

The authorities added that the passenger was taken to emergency services. Its condition is still unknown at this time. Meanwhile, the authorities pointed out that the Airpods finally recovered.
