Ukraine war latest: UK slaps 100 new sanctions on Russia; Trump says he has preferred location for peace talks

The United Kingdom has slapped Russia with 100 new sanctions, aimed at the country’s military, energy and financial sectors.

Foreign Secretary David Lammy described Vladimir Putin as a «warmonger» when he pointed out Russia’s attacks in Ukraine during the last days.

«We urge you to accept a complete and unconditional fire immediately so that there can be conversations about just and lasting peace,» he said, while revealed the sanctions.

What are the latest sanctions?

Among the sanctions are measures aimed at supplying weapons systems, such as Iskander missiles, which have been used indiscriminately in Ukraine.

Russian erroneous information is also in the sights of the United Kingdom government.

14 more members of the Social Design Agency (SDA), an information operation financed by the Kremlin, have been sanctioned, with the leaders of the group already indicated last year.

46 financial institutions that help the Russian attempts to evade sanctions have now been sanctioned, as well as the exchange of currency of St. Petersburg and the Russian deposit insurance agency.

What about Russian oil?

18 More ships in the ‘Shadow fleet’ that transport Russian oil are on the list.

Earlier this month, Sir Keir Starmer announced 110 additional sanctions related to the shadow fleet.

The Government also said that it is working to harden the oil price limit, which limits how much Russia can charge for its oil if it is transported using G7 services.

The limit was introduced in December 2022 and prohibits companies based in the G7 nations to trade Russian oil if it was sold to more than $ 60 per barrel.

But the government says that it is now reviewing that limit and can reduce it even more, so it is closer to the cost of production, reducing the income of Russian oil.
